Pikes Peak United Way Quality of Life Indicators

Quality of Life Indicators

The data, or indicators, are quantitative measures of the quality of community life. They reflect a combination of idealism (what we would like to measure) and pragmatism (what we are able to measure) in nine different categories, which reflect a comprehensive view of the community.

E.C. Professionals

"Want to see what America’s business, military, government, and non-profit leadership will look like in a generation or two? Visit an early childcare center! And you’ll see not only the future, but the importance of investing today in that future. Access to quality, affordable early childcare and education pays huge dividends by helping children get ready for success in school and in life."
-JD Dallager, President and CEO,Pikes Peak United Way

The experiences and development children have early in life influence not only their own lives but the community they reside in profoundly.
High quality early childhood education and school readiness promotes greater academic achievement, higher rates of school completion, lower rates of incarceration and higher incomes. These positive outcomes also correlate directly to  the substantial economic benefits of investing in early care and education (ECE).

The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments partnered with the Alliance for Kids to produce "Economic Impact of Child Care and Early Education in the Pikes Peak Region." It contains valuable information on the importance of ECE in our community.
