Pikes Peak United Way Quality of Life Indicators

Quality of Life Indicators

The data, or indicators, are quantitative measures of the quality of community life. They reflect a combination of idealism (what we would like to measure) and pragmatism (what we are able to measure) in nine different categories, which reflect a comprehensive view of the community.

Find Child Care

Little Girl
Parents are a child's first and best teachers. In a society that requires most parents to work full-time, the need for high-quality care and education for young children is greater than ever before.

Whenever parents are away from their children, they need to know that those children are receiving the best possible care and education available. The Alliance for Kids is committed to making El Paso County the best place to raise a child and this means ensuring that parents are provided with the best child care resources available.

The Alliance for Kids recommends Child Care Connections as an agency to utilize for referrals.
Child Care Connections is a comprehensive child care resource & referral agency serving parents, early childhood professionals, and employees serving the Pikes Peak Region. They are a division of Qualistar Early Learning. The organization is headquartered in Colorado Springs and serves Elbert, El Paso, Kiowa and Teller counties.

CCC strives to improve the quality and awareness of child care in our communities and to educate parents in finding affordable and quality child care.

Accreditation

NAFCC Accreditation
Accreditation is a process many different industries use to indentify exemplary practices in that particular field. Accreditation is both a status and a process. As a status, accreditation provides public notification that an institution or program meets standards of quality set forth by an accrediting agency. As a process, accreditation reflects the fact that in achieving recognition by the accrediting agency, the institution or program is committed to self-study and external review by one's peers in seeking not only to meet standards but to continuously seek ways in which to enhance the quality of the services provided.

NAFCC sponsors the only nationally recognized accreditation system, designed specifically for family child care providers. This system was designed by hundreds of providers, parents, and early care and education experts in an effort to create a quality indicator for family child care programs across the country.

NAEYC Accreditation Facilitation Project In collaboration with Child Care Connections
Promoting quality in Early Childhood Education centers through accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Through multiple training opportunities and site based coaching, this project assists programs in their preparation to meet the rigorous standards set forth by this national accreditation system. Family Child Care Partnerships
FCCP assists family child care providers to provide high quality child care services, with a focus on moving providers toward national accreditation standards.

The mission of FCCP is to ensure that family child care providers develop and apply their knowledge and foster the healthy growth and development of the infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in their care.
